Blue Sky Teams Director Steve Finn was awarded the ‘Above and Beyond’ award at the inaugural HACRO Achievement Awards on 31st May 2017. The award recognises Steve for his courage, energy and tenacity in helping to build the Blue Sky organisation which has made him a role model for people leaving prison.
The HACRO Achievement Awards celebrate the achievements of ex-offenders who have succeeded in turning their lives around and who have become law-abiding members of their community in a variety of roles.
High Sheriff, Will Hobhouse who presented Steve’s award said “The HACRO awards celebrates service users in the Criminal Justice System who have overcome significant obstacles and challenges to get their lives back on track. This is an enormous achievement and a rare opportunity for positive changes to be acknowledged and celebrated. Each winner’s story is an inspiration to others who find themselves facing similar adversity such as: addiction, homelessness, unemployment or social exclusion. The HACRO Award winners are role models for us all”.
Steve Finn was Blue Sky’s very first ex-offender employee back in 2005. He now heads up Blue Sky Services which employs ex-offenders to deliver grounds maintenance and related environmental services for local authorities, parish councils and industrial/business parks.
Steve said on receiving the award: “I am incredibly proud of my achievements and those of Blue Sky but I’d like to dedicate this award to everyone working to break the cycle of reoffending”.
